The town of Mancos lies on the San Juan Skyway, a state and federally designated scenic highway, so awe-inspiring, it has been called "America's Most Beautiful Drive".

The loop may be covered in one day, but if you want to savor the many attractions take two or three days.  Summer is an ideal time for the tour, but the colors of September are spectacular also.

The San Juan Skyway passes through the southwest Colorado towns of Mancos, Cortez, Dolores, Rico, Ophir, Telluride, Ridgway, Ouray, Silverton, and Durango.  The trip can be started at any point along this loop.

Whatever your fancy, a drive on the San Juan Skyway is full of adventure.  See waterfalls in the spring, wildflowers in the summer, golden aspens in the fall and a snowy wonderland in winter.  When you're ready for action, the five million acres of the San Juan and Uncompahgre National Forests await.
